Hello Everyone :

Sorry it has taken so long to write. We have had quite a journey. The MTC was a spiritual high. We drove to Richmond Canada where we met our mission president & his wife. They are amazing. We were the given our assignment to serve in a recluse area far into the mountains called Hope. I love the name because it opens wide the missionary possibilities here.
We are in a beautiful mountain valley . There are bald eagles, mountain bluebirds& blue herons. We also have bears,Cougars & bobcats. Our city has 7,000 residents, one very small branch & we are the only missionaries.
The humidity is between 93%-100%...it rains a lot here. The mountains are majestic with cascading waterfalls. We are totally in a different country. Everything is different. Chinese, French, First Nation, Sewedish, British, and India are the people here with a few Canadians sprinkled in. We are learning new things. The dollar is a "loonie". The 2 dollar is a "tunnie ", and their bills are absolutely beautiful. I want to frame some.
We live in a two bedroom nice little apartment. Very comfortable except they don't have carpeting here. We even have a washer & dryer in our home.
The work is exciting. There are no other missionaries here because nothing is happening. The little branch was established last April & there are only 30 members including us.  Our goal is to "bloom where we are planted "so we got right to work.  We took homemade hot bread to some of the non-members in our apartment complex. We had two return appointments. One stood us up & the other one is going to church with us on Sunday.yeehaw !!!
One day  we were shopping in a store  when a woman came up to me & said : "I have been looking for you ". She then said : "You know Jesus Christ."  I said",yes, I do." She told me She knew Jesus in Iran but she couldn't have him there so He sent her here .  I told here we would teach her about Jesus & she was so happy. She kept hugging me. She is from another area out of our mission so sadly we asked the missionaries in her area to teach her. We will try to go see her from time to time if we can.
We invited 7 people to hear our good news of the gospel.  So 5 of the 7  accepted the invatation. Oh ,I Have to tell you about Lucy. She is a non-member we were asked to take to the hospital for some tests. She was in a wheelchair. So when Stan drove her down the ramp at the end of her appointment. I said " put on your seatbelt. She is 79 years old. "Don't have one" she said. I said then just throw your hands in the air & scream. Playing along Stan drove her down the ramp pretty fast. She threw her arms in the air & screamed "help".   I said "your supposed to throw your hands in the air. & scream "weeee". So she did & we had so much fun.  She said " I want you to know I'm not going to join your church ".  I said "not yet anyway ".  She I sad I am an agonostic". " But if I were to join any church it would be the Mormons".  Bingo !
Dave Parkin came to set up our Wifi. We invited him to stay for breakfast. But he had other people to do wifi for. We visited as he did his work. He has a beautiful wife & a 18 month old daughter. We told him he could have them forever. When he asked how ;Stan invited him to have the missionary lessons. He said yes immediately. Awesome !
We are so excited to be here. We love being missionaries. This is a most excellent adventure. We know the church is the church Jesus Christ has established upon the earth. We have a Heavenly Father who knows us by name & loves & blesses us. The Book of Mormon is so true. Joseph Smith was the prophet of the Restoration & President Thomas s Monson is our living prophet today . We are so blessed to have the knowledge of the gospel in our lives. There are so many in the world that need to hear & have the opportunity to be members of the true church. The Lord needs all of us to "put our shoulder to the wheel " and do missionary work. Time is hastening & He needs all of us. We have had a terrific first week here in the lovely land of "Hope "
Have great week. Tons of love,  Elder & Sister Fisher

P.S.  We have lots of pictures I will post when I learn how. Ha.

Mission Farewell

We had a fabulous mission farewell on January 24th. We were so happy that so many friends and family came to support us. We had a big party after church at our home. So excited that everyone came to help us enjoy a special day.

That afternoon we were set apart as full time missionaries by our stake president. It was a great  meeting. Our children & their spouses gave us their advice & farewell wishes.
