So this week I'm writing about last week & this week so I can be caught up. Last week was transfer week. The biggest we've had so far. We started transporting missionaries on Sunday thru Friday. Tuesday night we stayed at the hotel with 12 returning home missionaries. They were so awesome. Some of them will be coming to BYUI  so we invited them all to our home for dinner & to meet their new wives. We tucked them in bed at 11:30 p.m.and we were up taking them to the airport at 3:30 am.  On Wednesday we were in charge of cooking a meal for the incoming missionaries and others , thirty people. It turned out great even though we had only three hours of sleep. That night we stayed at the hotel again  with the twelve incoming missionaries. I will post pictures because they are such impressive stalwart missionaries. The church is in good hands with these amazing young people. The rest of the week was driving to and fro taking the missionaries to their new areas. We love what we do. We love being missionaries.
Of course we had so many transports I had to drive our little blue car & Stan drove a van. We were coming back from the ferry pickup when my phone rang. I had two sister missionaries riding with me. The call said "you left Elder Ream at the ferry. You need to go back & pick him up ".  So in my regular patient way, I wildly started honking my horn & flasing my lights so Stan, who was in front of me , would pull over. He did'nt. Because I was near a right hand turn off; I uprubtly turned the corner. My plan was to pull off the highway & then call Stan on the phone. The sister missionary in the back seat said :" There is a bicycle ".  I quickly stopped the car & jumped out. There was a cyclist about 30 years old jumping up & down and yelling at me. I told him I was sorry, asked him over & over if he was hurt.  Stan noticed I was stoppeded so he came back. I had turned the corner without looking. My car tire hit the front tire of his bike & he jumped off. He wasn't hurt & his bike wasn't damaged at all. Being the missionary we were taught, I wrote my name & address on a pass- a long card with the Savior on the front. We returned to the ferry for the abandoned missionary. Coming back on the accident highway ; we saw the cyclist riding his bike down the road at break-neck speed.. He was fine. I was a basket case though, and one of the sister missionaries took over the driving. I sat in the back seat crying. Three days later the Canada ICBC called and said the bicyclist was suing me . "what " !!!!
We enjoyed Stake Conference on the weekend. It was an hour away so we drove a new convert & her son, an investigator, and two less activies ladies. It was awesome awesomeness. We so love being missionaries.
We had two missionaries going home early this week. The president had asked us to take care of them. The first night we drove two hours up pick one up from the train station at 11:00 p.m. We took her to an interview with the president and then to our apartment to stay overnight. We all got up at 3:30 am and took her to the airport. The next night we drove three hours round trip to pick up a missionary. We took him to meet with the President and then home to our apartment for an overnight stay. We went to bed at 12:30 am and took him to the airport at 4:00 am. I think we need to sleep for about three months to catch up when we return home.
This week we had a Doctor appointment, a physical therapist ( our stake president) appointment and an x-Ray.  Looks like I have a torn my minisicuis in my knee with plenty of arthritis to surround it. I  now walk with a cane. It was an unattractive sleek black cane. When I understood it was going to go everywhere with me I asked :" do you have a pink one ?" "No," he said. " Then can I decorate this one ".  He laughed & said I could. I'll post a picture.
Today Stan & I were in charge of preparing a meal for 70 very hungry ( been fasting ) missionaries . Stan was wonderful & helped a ton.  It's difficult to cook while holding on to a cane; (especially if you have to spit out your gum to walk forward ). All is well. Everyone had plenty to eat & we received great reviews. Tomorrow we  along with the other office couples, are putting on an open house for our departing mission president; President Burt. We are planning on 200 people. Our dear mission president & his wife have completed their three years. We totally love them ! Next Wednesday we will have a new President... Elder Wong , who is a General authority.
That's all for now. The church is true without a doubt. God lives. Jesus Christ is our Reedemer. Joesph Smith is the prophet of the restoration. Thomas S Monson is our living prophet today. And the Book of Mormon is the most important true book we should all be studying every day. Remember, always keep the faith. We love & miss you all.

  1. Ooh wild story about the bike! I hope it all works out okay. Maybe your knee injury is a blessing in disguise... to get you to slow down. Remember it's scripture to not run faster than you have strength. 😄
